Snout Beetle

There are a large number of Snout Beetle or weevil species. They can be very small (1 mm) to large (60 mm) (usually 6-12 mm) and inhabit an enormous variety of habitats. A huge variation in shape and colour exists, but all have a distinct snout with mandibles at the end. The C-shaped larvae are white to cream and grub-like in nature

Snout Beetles can be pests of both garden plants and commercial crops, or feed on stored products like grain. They drill holes in stems, bulbs or grain, either to feed or to lay their eggs. The larvae will feed on the internal tissue until they pupate.
